Disability Employment Awareness Month
Disability Employment Awareness Month is celebrated every year during the month of October. During this time, we reflect on the accomplishments of those with disabilities whose work helps the national economy, and we reaffirm our commitments to maintaining and fighting for equal opportunities for all types of ability. Visit https://www.loc.gov/accessibility/disability-employment-awareness-month/ for more information.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law by President George H.W. Bush in 1990.
At the Palos Verdes Library District we also observe this month as a time to celebrate all accomplishments and experiences of those with disabilities in addition to accomplishments in the workplace.
The year 2020 marks the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the 75th anniversary of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM).
